This week has been pretty quiet in terms of productivity. It’s not because we’ve gotten lazy though, we genuinely can’t do shit until our new samples arrive. It has been fucking torture though. A real trial for my patience.
I’ve really been put to the test in terms of the whole ‘work smart vibe’ I’ve been going for.
As I’ve said in the past, I struggle to do nothing. It’s hell for me, man. After posting the blog up last week, I sat down to plan my upcoming week and for the first time in ages, I couldn’t really think of anything. This came down to the fact that everything is ready to go except for our custom packaging – which we don’t have yet.
The only thing I really found myself able to do was to mess about with the back labels for our new muscle/skin care balms as the one I had previously design and planned on ordering turned out to be unusable. If you’re wondering why that is, it’s because the back labels are going to be 50mm in size so I need to make sure that the information will be legible when they are printed otherwise we have just wasted a lot of money and time, which we have very limited amounts of in both departments.
Keep that in mind!
That’s a good tip for anyone who is currently in the process of designing something similar so make sure to keep that in mind.
Unfortunately, this ended up being impossible because my Adobe Illustrator shut itself down from my MacBook saying it wasn’t ‘genuine’ which it wasn’t, as it turns out. I had no idea. So I need to buy the real one, which I really did think we already had!
I’m trying to make sure that I always use my time efficiently and effectively while also allowing myself time to chill, which I seriously struggle with. I think I’ve done a pretty good job of that this week, I even went for a nap like an actual grown up.
In an effort to use my free time wisely, I really began to study body language. It’s something I’ve always been interested in and wanted to know more about. As you might have guessed, I just never had time for it in the past.
Now, that I have began studying it in depth, I have realised that there’s more to it than meets the eye. It’s even more interesting subject that I ever thought it would be. Honestly, it’s like a fucking can of worms.
I listened to the audiobook of,
‘The Secret Language of Leaders’ by Carol Kinsey Goman
And I found it fascinating. There’s so many subtle body signals that we give out that say so much about you to others. I’ve always wondered why you feel a certain way about different people, even if they say the same thing as each other.
On the business side of things, I think it’s going to be a useful skill to develop for myself. After all, I am in the field of sales so being able to read people will come in very handy. Especially when we go out and make connections etc in the future.
One thing that drew me to it, and actually was the biggest thing, was my curiosity as to how some people seem to have a certain quality of talking to people with ease, and have this aura of confidence about them while a lot of people don’t.
That’s the word for it – charisma.
I’m not saying I am not charismatic, but it doesn’t hurt to improve your self confidence if and where possible. Especially if I want to become a better sales person!
If you follow my instagram, you see that I have actually just bought a book on the subject called,
‘The Definitive Book of Body Language’ by Allan and Barbara Pease.
I’m excited to read it and will let you all know how it is when I do.
I could probably have just wrote – “NOTHING TO REPORT!” This week but I like writing these posts so thought id share my new hobby/interest with you all.
Hopefully I’ll have a lot more to write about next week but for now,
